Lauren B. Martin joined As the World Turns on April 10, 1997, as Camille Bennett, a young woman trying to start her life over in Oakdale after breaking off an affair with a married man.

The actress grew up in Wareham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Judge Baron H. Martin and Joan Kapolcheck Martin. When she was very young, a local photographer suggested she model, which led to commercials and student films.

She later attended The Masters School, a performing arts school in Dobbs Ferry, New York, where she started its first black singing group. On a whim, she auditioned for the Cosby Show and A Different World. Although she did not get a role on either program, she decided that show business was what she wanted to pursue.

After modeling in Paris and attending Bostonís Emerson College, Lauren began a singing career, opening for such acts as Tony, Toni, Tone; and En Vogue. She later returned to modeling in South Beach, Florida.

The head of NBC Casting remembered her from a Sunset Beach audition and eventually had the actress read for a role on Another World. Lauren played the recurring role of Jenkins for four months, before learning on a break from taping that she had landed the role of Camille on As the World Turns.

In addition to her television credits, Lauren has appeared in the films Street Dreams, Where Angels Dance, and Girl Talk. She has also recorded a single, which is soon to be released. Lauren's birthday is March 3.
